It's CHILLY!

geesh can it get any colder around here? My car said that it was 34 degrees when I left for work at 7:30 :o( I'm not liking it and I better stop complaining because I am going to be spending the next 4 days in weather just like this because I'm going to NEW YORK...woohooo! Rocky and I leave with his family tomorrow for New York. We are going to have fun and play :o) I have never been there and am SUPER excited about it. The tree lighting is tonight which means NY will be in full christmas spirit mode. I can't wait. I am all packed up and ready to go. Mr. Patch will be spending the weekend with Momma Olivia. THANK YOU, OLIVIA :o) They will be heading up to Yuba City on Saturday. Olivia is spending the night there and going over to Sacramento on Saturday to cheer on our friends who are running the Cal International Marathon. Patch will get to play with his cousins Chloe and Max. Should be a fun weekend for them.

GOOD LUCK Cal International Runners :o)

Well as far as the weight loss goes, I had gained a few pounds over the Thanksgiving break but I've lost them already and I'm back at what I weighed in at on 12/20 so not too bad. I will be starting my boot camp now on January 22nd. That will work out much better for me. I'll be able to do the full series without missing any days. I'm looking forward to it and it'll get me in good shape for the New York Marathon training season.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, it's here that holiday where you eat and eat til your eyes pop out of your head :o) I am going to try to be very very good this year and not over do it. I did very well at weigh in this week and I am down another 3 lbs....WOOHOOO! Why is it I always go on a diet during the holidays? :o( waahhhh. My eating festivities will start tonight though. Rocky, our friend Lindy and her doggie Max are coming over to celebrate Patch's bday. We are having crab, steamed artichokes and PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE...YUMMY! So I will be good all day and save all my weight watcher points for dinner. The crab and artichoke aren't bad at all actually so that's a plus but the cheescake and wine is what get's ya. I can't wait. And YES, I did say that this is for Patch's bday. I have also ordered him a doggie cake and I got him a birthday hat. Stay tuned for pics next week.

I am suppose to start boot camp on Monday. I need to call them though and find out if I should start or wait til the next 3 week session starts. I just realized that I'll have to miss next Friday and the following Monday. They don't have make up classes so I'm thinking I may need to wait til the next session starts. I want to make sure I make all the classes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, yummy and safe Thanksgiving!

Happy Birthday Patch!

Today my little guy turns 1 year old :o) I met him when he was just 8 weeks old, he was such a little itty bitty guy. He weighed a little over 1 pound when I went to see him. I'm still not even sure how I ended up with a doggie, we aren't even allowed to have them in our apartment. I was just playing around and looking on craigslist and when I saw his picture I had to have him. I went and looked at him and fell in love with him. He had 4 siblings and he was the only one with long hair. His brothers and sister all had short hair and were either all black with one white spot or there was one little boy that was all brown just like the Taco Bell dog. I picked Patch. Patch was only suppose to be about 4-6lbs and today he is weighing in at 12lbs...YIKES. He is not overweight he just turned out to be a bigger doggie.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY PATCH!

Boring Update

I haven't updated in a while so I thought I'd write something although I have nothing exciting to write about :o( Next week will be my last week to enjoy my sleep before I have to start getting up at 5:00am. My boot camp classes start on the 27th, I'll probably need them after the Thanksgiving meal although I plan to be a good girl and not overdue it on the food. Weightloss is coming along great. I was pretty bummed on Monday when I weighed in and had stayed at the same weight as last week but I weighed myself at home this morning and I'm down another 3 lbs.....woohooo! I am down 8lbs. YIPEEE! I gotta say that I LOVE Weight Watchers cause I can still eat the things I love. I have not been depriving myself of any yummy foods. I am just not eating like a piggie. OH but I don't care how many points Pumpkin Cheesecake is I am having a big fat slice on Thanksgiving Day :o)

This Saturday I've gotta help mark the course for the 20 mile run so I'll be out on my bike. My poor bike hasn't seen the outside of my house since May. I sure hope I manage to stay on it and not land on the ground somewhere :O( It'll be fun though to be riding out on the course supporting the participants running their last long run before the Honolulu Marathon.

Thursday nights are doggie training with Patch so that's where I shall be tonight.

Run Forest Run

Actually it's more like Run Dean Run. So as you've already read in my previous blog entry Dean Karnazes is running home. Last Friday I was having dinner at home with Olivia and Rocky and I had said "Wouldn't it be funny if Dean did like Forest and just kept running and ran home from New York" haa, haa, well HE IS!

You can track him here Where's Dean?

Boot Camp

Well, I have signed up for Boot Camp. Yep, I sure did. They had a great deal, probably cause it's winter so I went ahead and signed up. My classes begin Monday, November 27th. 3 days a week for 3 weeks. I chose to do the shorter program because of the holidays and I won't be aroudn much. I will see how I like it and maybe I'll sign up again in January when things are more mellow. For now I know the hardest thing will be getting up at 5am. Class starts at 5:30 :o( YIKES but it's the only class I can take and still make it home in time to get ready for work. I can't wait to see the results and hopefully with me eating better I'll see really good ones.

Here is a little bit from their website, Bay Area Boot Camp:

Bay Area Boot Camp is a women's only four-week program of fitness instruction, nutritional education and team motivation. Exercises include: calisthenics, short distance running/walking, body weight resistance training, weight training, jump roping, crunches, obstacle courses, PAR courses, hill running/walking, hiking, agility and power drills, sports drills, medicine ball work, stair climbing, partner drills, pilates, sport yoga, surprises and much more.

NOTHING....

....that's what I've been doing...haa, haa. I said I was going to take a break from running and that's exactly what I am doing. My little feet have not seen my running shoes since Nike which will be 3 weeks this weekend. My plan is to probably take off all of November and December and then come back fresh in January. It's not good for me to not do anything at all so I think I may take some yoga classes at a place right around the corner from our house. I've been there before and I liked it. I had really wanted to take the boot camp class held at Heather Farms but its kind of expensive and I'd have to take the 5:30am classs....uuhhh...I can barely get up at 6:30 to go to work. I'll keep ya posted though on that one. I just feel like I need to do something other than sit on my butt and knit and watch tv all night. Although I did find a picture of a yoga knitter today :o) maybe I can find one of those classes somewhere.

While I've been doing nothing Dean Karnazes finished his 50 marathons in 50 days. He finished in an amazing 3:00:30 at the New York City Marathon on Sunday. That was his 50th marathon. I can't believe it. I would have came in in like 20 hours after running 49 marathons the previous 49 days. Then on Monday he decided that he couldn't just stop there so he went on a 28 mile run. What is he doing today you ask on day 53? Here is what he wrote today:

DAY 53
Miles: To be determined

Weather: 56 degrees, rain

Today is the most liberating, terrifying, exciting, and confusing day of my life. I am walking out of a hotel room in New York City, and running west. Why west? Because that is the direction of my house in San Francisco. Yes, I am running home from the New York City Marathon, the final marathon of the Endurance 50, across the country back to my house.

What is my plan? I really don’t have one. There is no script here. It will be kind of like reality TV, only this is not TV. I’m not sure of the route I’ll follow, I’m not sure where I’ll stay, I’m not sure how long it will take. All I know is that my heart is telling me this is the right thing to do.
My family is behind me, which is the most important thing. I talked with them at length to get their feelings about this next leg of the journey, and they were 100% supportive and encouraging. “It will be fun, dad,” my daughter, Alexandria, said, “We’ll come find you every weekend and run together.”

The Endurance 50 was more of a spiritual journey than a running event. None of us had ever anticipated this would be the case. People from around the globe united and came together in ways that were astonishing to us all. We saw the very best in human nature, we saw the human spirit come through in remarkable and touching ways. In a world that can be so divided, running showed us that it has the power to unify people.

So let us run.
Heading west,

Dean

Check out his blog, he's got some video footage on there and you can keep track of his journey home.

So see, there is no way that I can just sit around and not do anything. So I will find something to keep me going til I start running again in January.
